Polartec® Power Shield™ Pro is a high-performance, waterproof and breathable non-PFAS membrane made with plant-based Biolon™ nylon. Award-winning Polartec® Power Shield™ Pro is both waterproof and breathable! It provides 20/20 breathable waterproof protection (20k mm water resistance (ISO 811) / 20k g/m2/24hrs breathability (JIS L1099, B1), ensuring that rain and snow stay out, and that moisture vapor escapes to prevent overheating.

Unlike stiff, non-breathable hardshell fabrics, Polartec® Power Shield™ Pro is soft and comfortable while providing plenty of stretch, making it an excellent softshell alternative for active use in wet and windy conditions.

Polartec® Power Shield™ Pro (made with Biolon™* nylon) is a non-PFAS membrane that sets a new standard in sustainability for performance fabrics. As a renewable, non-GMO plant-based nylon, the Biolon™ plant-based inputs account for approximately half (45-48%) of the nylon content and thus delivers a 50% lower carbon footprint than virgin Nylon 6,6, the gold standard against which other nylons are measured.

Polartec® Power Shield™ Pro is free from PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), offering a safer, more responsible answer to weather protection. Furthermore, the non-PFAS DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating on the Power Shield™ Pro membrane keeps you dry and comfortable without sacrificing resiliency or high stretch performance. By the end of 2022, well before any mandates, Polartec had removed all PFAS-containing materials across our entire product line, ensuring that all our products are now entirely non-PFAS.
