Main Story. 11. 05.
For the team behind Copenhagen-based Pas Normal Studios, cycling is a shared passion that influences everything they do, from designing and testing new collections to clocking thousands of kilometers on the road. The premium cycling apparel brand, founded in 2015, combines sleek Scandinavian aesthetics, technical innovation and a fresh perspective on what great kit should deliver. Because the people at Pas Normal Studios believe the best kit is the one you truly love wearing.“What makes Pas Normal Studios special is the passion everyone brings to what we do. Sure, a jersey needs to look and feel great, but how it performs after hours on the bike is just as important. We put a lot of thought into our materials, construction and fit because we want people to love wearing our kit as much as we love creating it.” – Patrick Boje Andreassen, Senior Designer, Pas Normal Studios
Made by Cyclists, for Cyclists
With so many avid riders on the team, testing new ideas comes naturally. Ask who’s riding over the weekend, and five hands might go up. Give those five riders the same prototype, and chances are they’ll return with five slightly different opinions. And during weekly winter gravel rides, the conversation starts before anyone gets on a bike. “There’s always plenty of dressing-room banter about layers, socks and what to wear in the cold,” Patrick says. “Seeing how my coworkers actually use their kit often sparks new ideas, like our newest hooded base layer in Polartec Thermal Pro™.” For Patrick, these different perspectives help identify and refine what really matters – especially since they’re the same folks who will be wearing Pas Normal Studis kit on their next ride.
All About the Feeling
Creating exceptional cycling apparel goes well beyond engineering and aerodynamics. For Patrick and the team, it’s about how a jersey feels against the skin, how naturally it moves with the body, whether the pockets are easy to reach and how the entire kit comes together. Even the relationship between a jersey and bib shorts matters, with fits and proportions carefully developed to work as one. Subtle colors and clean lines allow riders to mix and match pieces across seasons, bringing a distinctive Scandinavian aesthetic to serious performance gear. And sometimes, it’s about getting one very specific thing right. Patrick still remembers a short-sleeved jersey the team developed several years ago. It had a brushed interior for cool spring mornings and evenings, and when the chill made itself known, it was exactly what he’d reach for.
Racing Is Personal
That connection between people and performance extends to PAS Racing, the brand’s professional gravel cycling team. Just ask Tobias Mørch Kongstad, a Pas Normal employee who is also the team manager. An accomplished gravel racer with podium finishes at some of the sport’s most demanding events, Tobias brings firsthand knowledge of what happens when equipment is pushed to its limits. It’s one of the reasons the team races in Pas Normal Studios collections and experimental prototypes, putting materials, construction and fit to the test under the demands of professional gravel racing.
Beyond the Kit
Cycling is often a tribal sport, with riders fiercely attached to their preferred team and favorite kit. Yet once people discover the comfort, fit and understated design that define Pas Normal Studios, they keep coming back for more. As Patrick points out, looking and feeling good would mean little if the kit didn’t deliver on the bike. Because for the team at Pas Normal Studios, it’s never been just about the kit but about everything that makes you want to ride.
