Where The Wild Stays Wild:

Polartec X Passenger

At the edge of the New Forest, where the shoreline breaks and the wind smells of pine and salt, you’ll find Passenger. A brand driven by the restorative power of the great outdoors, UK-based Passenger was launched to help people feel alive, recharge and break free from the everyday. A concept those in the know refer to as Meaningful Escapism. This unwavering pursuit of mental and physical wellbeing is coupled with a mission to roam more responsibly, which is where the collaboration with Polartec® comes in. Because Passenger-crafted gear does more than just perform in the wild; it actively helps protect it.

We design outdoor gear that’s made to roam and Polartec has become a core staple of Passenger’s outdoor active range, fitting seamlessly across our hike, run, bike, and vanlife markets. With Polartec high-performance fabrics, we can confidently offer our customers gear that pairs eco-responsibility with designs that are built to last.” - Passenger Design Team

Roam with Purpose

Passenger’s commitment to simplicity and thoughtful design is matched by its dedication to sustainability. With responsibility at the core of everything they do, Passenger trusts Polartec’s planet-first approach. A brand renowned for pioneering more sustainable and innovative textile solutions, Polartec launched the world’s first recycled fleece in 1993 and has since diverted more than 2.5 billion plastic bottles from landfill and waterways. Similarly, over 74% of the materials Passenger uses are recycled or organic, and for every order, the company plants a tree. Not a pledge, but a real tree. And with over 2.4 million planted through partnerships with organizations like Trees for the Future, they’re helping lead people and communities toward a more resilient future.

Leave No Trace

In addition to using Polartec® fleece fabrics ranging from Polartec® Micro Series to Polartec® Thermal Pro™ and Polartec® Power Stretch™ technical fleece, Passenger is the first European company to launch new AW25 fleece midlayer styles featuring Polartec® Shed Less technology. By combining 100% post-consumer recycled polyester with innovative yarn construction, knitting, chemistry and manufacturing, Polartec® has created a highly technical fleece that washes and wears beautifully, sheds up to 85% fewer microfibers during home laundering, and supports long garment life. This is low-impact performance engineered for the real world. And because Polartec® fleece is warm and super soft in addition to being lightweight, it’s perfect for escapism in the great outdoors.

Designed for Adventure

As one of the most wearable and diverse technical fleeces Passenger has ever offered, the new Sierrascape full zip hoodie is designed to give you enough space for a layer underneath while fitting close enough to easily pull a waterproof shell over the top. Crafted from Polartec® Micro Series fleece with Shed Less technology, it lets you explore further and still tread lightly. And, it comes with a contrast ripstop pocket and hood, as well as colorful non-slip zip pulls and a drawcord hem.

Escapism Essentials

Photographer and Marketing Director at WildPlay Element Parks in Canada, Kat Craats is no stranger to outdoor pursuits in all forms: climbing, skiing, trekking, surfing and more. In short, Kat moves with purpose and needs her gear to do the same.  Her go-to favorite? The Ayla Recycled Micro Polartec® Fleece is the first thing she grabs for truly everything. It’s also the first thing she packs for an overnight hike or a long day of climbing because it layers comfortably under ski gear, and the hoodless design makes it ideal for switching between high-output activity and rest.

We’re pretty sure Kat will bond quickly with the new Sierrascape hoodie as well. Especially since it represents the perfect combination of performance, style and a planet-friendly approach – which  for someone like Kat, is a game changer.

A Shared Path Forward

Passenger began as a pipe dream in the back of a beat-up T4 campervan when co-founders Rich and his now-wife Alexa were travelling the remote wilds of British Columbia. They started the brand to create responsible outdoor gear meant for a life of meaningful escapism and with Polartec by their side, Passenger delivers comfort without compromise. As the outdoor community continues to roam, to explore, and to connect with nature, Passenger and Polartec are proof of what it means to move forward lightly, deliberately, and into the wild.

*According to AATCC 212 2021, up to 85% less fiber fragments are shed on average during home laundering, when compared to the baseline fabric.
