Polartec® Power Wool™ is a versatile bi-component knit fabric made for comfort. It combines the best of both natural and synthetic fibers – natural Merino wool on the inside and a synthetic fiber exterior – to create a hybrid base layer fabric with unmatched performance, durability, and comfort.
Wool naturally resists odor, thermal regulates, and manages moisture, all of which make it ideal for use in a base layer. However, wool also has a few negatives: it dries slowly, is prone to shrinkage, and lacks durability. Polartec® Power Wool™ employs a synthetic face yarn to correct for these deficiencies. The end result is a bi-component fabric that does everything well.
Unlike traditional wool fabrics, Polartec® Power Wool™ leverages a bi-component knit technology to provide superior durability, moisture wicking, and shape retention, while maintaining the natural softness, breathability, and thermoregulation of the natural wool fibers.
Polartec® Power Wool™ uses sustainably harvested wool. Our wool supplier has committed to upholding the Farm Animal Welfare Council's Five Freedoms to ensure best practices for animal husbandry, including the assurance that none of them practice mulesing or acquire previously mulesed sheep.
Bi-component knit technology uses two distinct surfaces. In the case of Polartec® Power Wool™, a fine Merino wool interior for softness, warmth, and odor resistance and a synthetic exterior for durability, moisture management, and faster drying. The innovative construction allows each material to perform at its best, without the need to blend the fibers themselves.
Yes! Polartec® Power Wool™ is made with a Merino wool interior that has natural antimicrobial properties, helping to reduce odors even after prolonged wear.
Merino wool is naturally thermoregulating, meaning it traps heat in cold conditions and releases excess warmth when it's hot. As a result, Polartec® Power Wool™ can be worn in multiple seasons and will keep you comfortable in changing environments.
The highly breathable bi-component knit construction of Polartec® Power Wool™ allows continuous airflow for enhanced breathability. It also prevents overheating while maintaining its insulative properties to keep you warm when needed.
Yes! The wool interior in Polartec® Power Wool™ efficiently wick moisture away from the skin. At the same time, its synthetic exterior ensures rapid evaporation, keeping you dry and comfortable all day long.
Polartec® Power Wool™ is more resilient than other wool fabrics because the synthetic exterior enhances strength, shape retention, and resistance to wear and tear.
Polartec® Power Wool™ is an ideal base layer fabric. It can also be used for mid-layers and apparel designed for outdoor activities, travel, and multi-day adventures, where both comfort and durability are essential.
To maintain the natural high-performance properties of Polartec® Power Wool™, wash in cold water with a mild detergent. Avoid fabric softeners, and be sure to follow the garment’s care instructions.
