Main Story. 02. 15.
Swedish brand BALINGSTA, is a new nordic ski apparel company with a difference: it makes to order. The one-year-old brand is determined to reduce over-consumption and over-production by producing locally and to order. Using performance fabrics from Polartec, the quality is high and the hope is that the patient consumer will value their purchase for longer – love it forever – knowing that it has been made for them with patience and care.
BALINGSTA uses Polartec® NeoShell® in their jackets and pants. This world leading, breathable waterproof protection offers stretchy comfort making it the ultimate choice for active outdoor wear. Producing clothing on demand will tackle the industry’s biggest problem – overproduction. There will be no advance collection, just well-built, technical apparel created in response to each specific order and delivered to customers within 10-14 days.
Lennart Claesson, CEO, BALINGSTA, says “Instead of the traditional collection cycle with large quantities and seasonable sales, our clothes are produced based on our customers’ orders. We strongly believe people are ready to pay for premium products.”
BALINGSTA works with a textile manufacturer based in its hometown of Stockholm. There are many positives in this relationship including fewer time delays in terms of delivery; a problem that’s commonplace when production occurs on another continent. It will also ensure exceptional quality control.
David Alledal, Creative Director, BALINGSTA says “We wish to create a brand for the future that paves the way to challenge old traditions in skiwear design.”
